ABOUT THE BOOK
After receiving so many requests for The Garden of Freedom book, I decided to create another volume dedicated to Eleuthera—thus, The Shores of Freedom was born. The title Shores of Freedom remains consistent with the first book, preserving the key word Freedom while slightly shifting the perspective to highlight the island’s geographic beauty. Those familiar with my books and photography know how much I love intertwining moments of everyday life, seemingly insignificant details, and the broader beauty seen from above. With a larger format, the photographs carry even more impact, bringing both people and landscapes to life. This is an entirely new collection—no older photos, not even my most iconic ones. I felt the need for a fresh approach, not only to show how the island has changed since 2018 but also to reflect my own artistic and personal growth. As I built this book, page by page, it felt like surfing the swells of Surfer’s Beach—moments of adrenaline and wonder, followed by quieter waves of introspection, all carrying my deep connection to the island. You may have noticed that, for the first time, the cover does not feature artwork by my dear friend and brilliant artist, Paula Boyd Farrington. This time I felt compelled to wrap this new body of work in an image captured through my own lens. It wasn’t an easy decision, and I hope the result does not disappoint. However, Paula’s artistry is still present—her stunning collage of Eleuthera graces both the opening and endpapers of the book. Now, I invite you to dive into these pages, to surf the book, and hopefully be captivated by the beauty of Eleuthera.
